Seminar - September 2012 - Shallow Water Grouper Fishing

Tampa Fishing for Shallow Water GrouperThis Thursday Evening, September 6th @ 6PM at West Marine, I will be giving a seminar on shallow water grouper fishing.  This fishing opportunity usually begins in mid to late October and can last until December, depending on how fast winter's real cold gets here.  Discussion topics will focus on the tackle and techniques for hooking quality grouper in 15 to 25 feet of water.  The gag grouper season will close on October 31st this year.  This is both good and bad news.  Certainly, there is nothing good about having to release a $18 a pound, great tasting fish however this closure will insure that there will be many fish in the shallows come this fall so it will be a great year to perfect your techniques on catching these fish. As always, West Marine will provide free drinks and pizza, as well as a  store gift certificate. I look forward to seeing you there.

Split Cost Charter - September 2012

September Tampa Bull RedfishIf you have an interest in splitting a fishing charter with another angler in the coming month, please respond to this email.  The costs are $237, $287 and $337 for 4, 6 and 8 hour trips respectively.  Maximum number of anglers on each side of the split is 2 (total of 4 people on the boat).  As is typical, fishing tends to slow a bit in August and then gets progressively better moving towards the fall.  Redfishing should be good during the stronger tides in September and, as the end of the month approaches, spanish mackerel should begin to show on the near shore reefs.  A few snook and larger seatrout should still be available out on the beaches.  If you would like to set up a trip, please indicate the number of anglers (1 or 2), the dates that you are available to fish and the length of trip you would like to take (4,6 or 8 hours). Thank you.

Fishing Rods for Sale - August 2012

I am selling 2 used, inshore rod and reel combos. The exact rod and reel are the Shimano Symetre 4000 spinning reel and the 7' 6" Daiwa Saltiga SA-CC 761-MFS spinning rod.  For those of you who have fished with me, these combos are the ones that I fish with every day.  New, these combos would sell for around $230.  I am selling them for $100.  They are 8 months old.  Let me know if you have an interest.
